Digitalis

Digitalis is the name of our A Capella singing group. So far, it only consists of 2 of us, but insha’Allah, we’ll one day have more people. Since we’re just a female group, we aren’t very popular or known by the majority, but insha’Allah, we do want to get the word out that we are a singing group and that we can and are able to spread positive messages about Islam, etc.

“Digitalis…what kind of name is that??” is probably something you’re thinking. Well, it’s the name of a flower and medicine that comes from the flower, aka, the common Foxglove. The medicine is used for heart conditions and must be measured to the exact dosage because too much can have fatal effects, while just the right amount may save your life. My partner found that name while looking for good band names and just happened to stumble upon it. Haha, well, I guess we began in 2005, just singing for some competitions and then we decided that we wanted to sing for ourselves and not just for competitions, but for the public…or as public as we could get.

We started out with, I think, maybe four people, but then we lost connections a bit, and so now we’re down to just us two main singers. We’re always looking for more people and songwriters, but I guess right now we’re taking a break because I moved away for school. Insha’Allah though, we’ll make a good comeback; we’re still writing songs, we just haven’t had that many chances to get together and practice, but we’re still going.

It started out as a school thing, then in Mist, later on in the ‘Voices for Change’ competition, and we got some attention from MAS Media, and finally, we got down with 786. Alhamdullilah, we’ve made some connections and we’ve started to move outward and onwards. Please pray for us and just wait a while, insha’Allah, something will be out soon, whether it be lyrics or a song, please support us.

On June 27th, 2010, we officially renamed Digitalis to something new and cutesy. We’ll release the name soon. And! Eventually, you’ll find us on youtube
